Abbey Brown writes for the gifted, to those who have that extra spark, the passion to create, the passion to do, and the passion to give. She writes for artists, athletes, inventors, social visionaries, entrepreneurs, scientists, builders, doctors, teachers, to everyone who has the gift, and a dream of what could be possible.
Tragically too many men and women are not living the life they were genetically designed and spiritually blessed to have. As the Founder of a Twelve Step program for artists who grew up in troubled families. Today, her vision has expanded to include everyone who is gifted. The fact is everyone is gifted. But few devote their life to realizing their gifts. There are millions of reasons why this does not happen. No training, no market, children, mortgages, on and on.
Fear, hopelessness and helplessness are a spiritual reason why some do not pursue their dream. A lack of Faith. Often, what some children witness and experience growing up in their families shapes their understanding of the adult world. If they grow up with violence, or incest, addiction, neglect, emotional abandonment, and unmanageable mental disorders, they will conclude that the adult world is not safe, and they will sabotage their life with fears that their dreams cannot become real. These fears control their personality with flight, fight, and paralysis.
Every child needs to be recognized for their exceptional gifts. They need to be emotionally supported to become all they can be. Encouraged to devote their life to realizing their passions. Families need to help their children identify themselves with their gifts. I am an artist. I am an athlete. I am a builder. I love the earth. I love fashion. How far is a light year? How did humans create language? Do animals speak to each other?
Inspiration continuously calls to the gifted, it beckons, it whispers, it enchants, it haunts. “Can light be bent by gravity” was the question. Eistein was certain it could, but he had to mathematically prove it. No one knows how or from where the wisdom comes that says “follow me, we can do it.” But suddenly the idea, the passion to try, and the drive to achieve are there.
The gifts run generationally. They come down the family tree. The farmer intimately understands the soil, weather, seasons, plants and animals, and passes his love of farming onto his sons. As a child she was able to hit a ball over the fence and run faster than any other child. Her many athletic relatives love competitive sports and they cheer her on. Today she competes in tennis tournaments. The inventor’s father and grandfather were engineers, and a great grandfather built his own barn by hand. The visual artist grew up seeing her great grandmother’s paintings, all beautifully framed, hanging on the walls of the family home. She got the message; it was okay to be a painter. Two brothers knew they could create a flying vehicle. They kept trying, did not give up. It took twenty tries before the brothers got their air vehicle to fly twenty miles… and they changed the world.
The gifts will call to us for our entire lives to “give us expression, give us a chance, give us life.” Michelangelosaid, “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Johann Sebastion Bach said, “I play the notes as they are written, but it is God who makes the music. To ignore our gifts will bring a longing of the soul and a grief that cannot be consoled, a life unfulfilled. Let us not be the one who at the end of our life says, “I wrote every day in my head.”
